What i have learnt this week

I have learnt this week in maths what is the right one of these symbols  + - X  and the division symbol to work out a question like this 45 - 32 =

This is how you work out that question.

You don't - the 2 on the 32 you just - 30

Then you - the answer to 45 - 30 = 15

So you - the 15 - 2 = 13 and that's your answer.

My Hook writing

“Can't run much longer” I mumbled to myself. “C'mon legs push it to the limits.”As the straight line of grass appears in front of me I sprint Hard core non stop. Trees were zooming past as fast as lighting the grass disappearing. There just ahead of me was Cooper Fale also sprinting to the finish, I felt like a cheetah desperate for food. I felt like a whole different person just sprinting non stop. I dive at the finish with my hands stuck behind my back, I walk into the crowd falling to my knees then straight to the ground breathing heavily over and over again. “I had come 4th” as i tell my friends. As they all came over to me shouting and saying good job Riley. I mumble to myself you are going to the NEW PLYMOUTH CHAMPS, what is going to happen next.

Hook in writing is when you hook someone into your writing by adding detail, punctuation and descriptive words.

                   Art Gallery

Rooms 10 and 11 went for a visit to the Len lye art Gallery on Friday. When we arrived the building was covered in stainless steel on the outside. We walked inside and looked up the passageway to see huge, wavy, concrete walls.

Then we split up into two groups room 10 and 11. Room 10 set off with a guy name Chris, and room 11 set off with a woman called Rebecker.

We all went off doing different activities and then swapped activities.

Our favorite sculpture was the massive stainless steel fountain that Len Lye created, as well as Len Lye's wavy Grass, that is also made with stainless steel. The Len Lye’s art area was amazing with so many new and creative ideas, Len Lye did his art using sound, music, sculptures, movies.

He liked big things and he wanted to make some of his own and he did.

Len Lye’s art style is very creative and using your imagination to come up with something new.

The art gallery we thought was incredible, and the building was magnificent the way it was designed.

If i could travel back in time i would watch Mount Vesuvius explode from a distance, in Pompeii. I want to see those people in Pompeii who didn’t even notice it erupting, some thought it was an Earthquake thats stupid. I also want to see Pompeii ruined with ash everywhere.

I have learnt how to multiply by 10, but to know how to do this you need to know your basic multiplication
 4 Times 80 well i know what 4 times 8 = 32 so then 4 Times 80 = 320 and you just add a zero so if it was also like 4 times 800 it would be 3200.

Details (Aim, Setting Characters): Minecraft is a fun crafting game with only using your imagination, building anything you can think of. Welcome to the world of blocks everything in the Minecraft world is made completely out of blocks, including yourself. You can also be joined up in multiplayer and play with other people and building with them. There are different types of game modes;there is creative and survival. Creative is a free building mode that lets you build anything. Survival is a mode where you have to survive by also crafting things and hide from mobs which are called, Creepers, zombies, spiders, skeletons, enderman etc, so watch out, and you have to build shelter, craft things using material that you find.

Rating from 1-10 (10 is the highest score) and a comment about: Smoothness 8, Minecraft has really good graphics it may glitch, but it depends what platform you are playing on. Story 8, There are different kinds of versions that a guy named Notch had created. They were selling out fast of minecraft in the early years that  Notch had made. It was one of the best games around where he lives. There is lots of a story about minecraft and how it was created. It is such a great game. Graphics 7, The graphics are really good, although sometimes can't see in the dark properly when it turns night time and can't see straight ahead as far. Multiplayer 10, It is the best it is not fun without people in your world and testing your traps, or help build something, it is the biggest thing people love in minecraft. How would you rate this game overall: 4 and a half stars

Would you recommend this game? yes we would recommend this game why because it is not creepy it will not scare people and it is also appropriate for little kids.Why or why not?

NYLD 2015 questions about the trip

What did you think of NYLD 2015. Give your opinion and reasons why you hold these opinions (at least 4 sentences). Its the best thing to go to it really helped me to be a leader and you get really inspired by the speakers because of their amazing life story.

Who was your favourite speaker and why? (Describe in at least 4 sentences). William pike was my favourite All pasion No limits that was his saying. His amazing story was incredible he does not give up in life although he has lost a leg he carries on with life and still climbs mountains with his fake leg. Dont let your thoughts take over.

What have you learnt about being a leader? (At least 4 sentences). Being a leader is a responsible thing don't give up in life keep going. Find your talent that you like to do and show it to others to see what you can do. Dare to dream Dream your future and achieve it.

How could you use this learning here at school? (At least 4 sentences) I could show my talent by showing kids what i can do on my scooter and bike. And dont give up in learning things in class and other stuff that i do around school or help with.

My Learning Goal This Week

My learning goal this week was to order fractions on a number line in maths. 

Mr Anderson held a workshop on ordering fractions on a number and i was so confused but was glad that i eventually got it.

I was successful in learning this but it was a bit hard at the start and didn't quiet understand.

I persist to not give up i felt like giving up but did not i kept trying.

I soon got this and understood from some friends that helped me understand it really well.

This is an example of what we learnt

Put this fraction on the Number Line.

We would split this number line into quarters and then count three quarters and there we would have our answer.

MY IKAN GOALS:

Our class has done a recent IKAN test to see how well we did in our maths, i have shared my goals i need to work on.

My IKAN goals is:
to say the number before/after a given number in a range 0-1,000,000.

And to convert a mixed number to an improper fraction. 

How I used COPE in learning this week

                               HOW I HAVE BEEN USING COPE THIS WEEK
I showed Curiosity in the powerful reading strategy determining important ideas. The text was called cat out of the bag. I was curious  because i didn't know what was going to happen next in the text. I was also asking questions about the text like why did the girl have no friends? Will she become friends with the cat or not? I was showing Empathy to listing to what Mr A was teaching us on fractions and was listing to Others ideas by not calling out, staying still and not whispering to other kids.

Kayden's and i W.T.T first aid skills questions

This is Kayden's and i reflection work on our google site for our first aid skills.

These are some questions that Mr A has sent us.

How did your group work together? (Did you cooperate, share the work, stay on task, persist when things got hard? Were you open-minded to each others’ ideas? How did you show empathy?) We worked really well together we sometimes stayed on the task and shared our ideas with each other and understood our ideas. Sometimes we were open minded Kayden or i would just want to do it by ourself. We showed Empathy by understanding and listening to our ideas and respected each other.

What were you pleased about in following the Te Ara Tika pathway to learn about first aid? (Think about each of the steps - what steps did you do well or made progress with?) We didn’t really use keywords and phrases well but typed in questions about the subject or we would get a bit confused on what we were typing in. We found what needed to know and sometimes understood what was on the web page

What skills in the Te Ara Tika pathway do you think you need to improve on and why? We need to improve to concentrate on the task. Because sometimes we have ideas that won't suit the task. And we start to talk about something completely random.

Now think about your google site. What are you really pleased about or had success with? We are really pleased that we got resuscitation done and dusted. But then found that we had been concentrating so much on it that we forgot to do another first aid skill.We are also pleased with our progress because we had no idea about first aid skills.

What do you think needs to be improved on your google site? We needed to add more first aid skills and probably more videos and make a bit more exciting and effective. We can make it effective by maybe adding color and pictures and better vocab.

Do you think your first aid google site does a good job of “effectively communicating” first aid skills? Why or why not? (Would you be happy with people using it to “Save a Mate”? We thought that yes it would be able to be shown to other people. It could be improved but i think we have it spot on. How to put someone in recovery position our video is very well done as it shows the steps on how to put someone in the recovery position.

What is one thing (skills, learning attitude) that each of you needs to improve on in our next W.I.T.? (Record each of your names with the thing to be improved) Riley I need to work on communicating with others and Kayden. Kayden I need to work on asking questions. Because I don’t normally ask questions that suit the task. Riley I need to definitely add in keywords and phrases because i am not incredible at doing this. But i just didn’t type in the keywords and was not typing in the right question.   Kayden I need to understand the information I am reading and know what to do if I am on a web site that I don’t understand what the information means.

      My Tablet

       Nexus Google 7          This is one of my best no hang on one of my best best best best best best best best memories. This Awesome AND best memory is about my black shiny Tablet. And i am yes me is going to tell how i got my Tablet. One nice fine day at the College that i lived in Hamilton 2014. Thats when i fought i could get a Tablet. You're probably asking yourself why does Riley need a Tablet. Well why i want a Tablet is because it would be handy to have. I could use it for a Camera, notes and most of all i wanted to use it for games. So i told Mum about my idea she said you are going to have to save up yourself! and i don't like hearing those words. I said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! that will take millions of years. oops maybe i was being a bit dramatic but you get the point. So i thought hard about it then a awesome idea popped to my brilliant mind. I could wash WINDOWS!!!!! that was the best thought yet i think. So i got the window wash and a cloth and went around our College and asked can i wash your windows for 2$. Lots of people said yes go ahead man so i got around 5 to 8$ a week and from that i saved a lot of MONEY!. Plus i was getting pocket money 5$ a week from doing the Ugly Stupid looking dishes but its worth it. One day Mum said we are going to new plymouth for a visit. I do not like traveling for 3 hours i precisely  feel sick each time which is not and i repeat not a good idea. When we got to our Poppers house to stay. For Christmas he gave me and my brothers 50$ we were blown away. As soon as he gave it to me i went running to mum jumping up and down like a angry Kangaroo  saying i have enough money for my tablet. And no i dont just mean over the amount or under the amount i mean i have exactly enough MONEY! I am sorry but i can't remember much what happened after that. Ohh year thats right we came home and and and and and um um um oh its no use i can't actually remember what happened?. It was i think 4 weeks maybe a Month and finally it CAME i was so excited. I unwrapped the package really fast like what a bear would do. The box felt smooth and it smelt like dust. I carefully took it out of its box making sure i don't drop it. I put it so carefully on the table done that was easy i shouted. So thats how it was my best day ever. I mean the best best best best best best best day EVER Thank you so much for reading this awesome story.

Once upon a time there was a lizard called RANGO. Rango lived in a little town called Watermouth far in the desert where there was a tiny bit of water for all of them to have. Rango was the sheriff of Watermouth he shot a huge mungase hawk with 1 bullet. But there was a problem one morning the water had disappeared Rango needed to find out who stole it. Rango felt sad for the people in the town because they will die if i don't get the water back. Thats when Rango was in the sewer and found a blockage coin he pulled and pulled then pin gg they had water again yay.
